We headed out through Missouri and stayed at this little hotel in the big city of Sweet Springs, MO. You meet the most interesting people staying in these little, no name brand hotels. The only things around were 2 truck stops where we met the nicest lady that made us custom salads and pizza. She was working at the truck stop because she was caring for her elderly step father, the only father she had known. She had not even seen grandchildren that live in SC because she could not afford to travel. She was pleasant in relating her story, not in any way complaining.
The next day was Illinois and Nebraska. We were surrounded by weather but did not have to drive through much. 
Wonderful temperature! Nice to be away from the heat and humidity!
We stopped for the night in Grand Island, NE. Yes, we are taking our time. We gave ourselves 4 days to get to WY!
